Since the introduction of the Philippines Renewable Energy Act, reportedly the first and most comprehensive legislation on renewable energy development in Asia, numerous renewable energy projects have been spearheaded in Philippines.  With climate change and fluctuating oil prices hurting Asian economies much more than before, governments in Asia and the rest of the world are accelerating the development of renewable energy sources.  However, the European debt crisis and global recession are risks in the horizon which could affect financing flows towards viable renewable energy projects. 

Philippines has been leading the region in renewable energy development.  How can this development be sustained and accelerated? Where are the risks and opportunities?
